The ‘Affinity Intercultural Foundation’ is an organisation that aims to promote dialogue and mutual respect between different religious groups in Australia. Though the initiative came from the Muslim community, their vision is all inclusive: ‘At Affinity our mission is to create and sustain enduring relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, by organising public events, talks and lecture series that bring groups of different people together.’
I have been involved in Affinity events for many years and have nothing but respect for the organisation and for the people behind it. It was my privilege to interview Mehmet Saral – the co-founder of Affinity – at the Affinity Centre offices in Circular Quay, Sydney, on 6 February 2019.
